Silvia Cauzzi, Co-CEO and Chief Taste Officer
Silvia spent seven years in the Formula 1 industry before UV. That's where the precision comes from, along with the love of motorsport and the fact that UV is the authorised F1 Eyewear stockist in Italy.
"Chief Taste Officer" isn't a joke title. Silvia chooses what goes on the shelves and behind the bar, from the frames to the coffee we roast ourselves as UV Small-Batch Roastery.
Jonathan van Blerk, Co-CEO
Jonathan has spent thirty years in independent eyewear. He was born in South Africa and is a British citizen. He has fitted frames for musicians, racing drivers and plenty of people who simply wanted a pair nobody else had. If you come into the studio, there's a good chance he'll be the one who tells you, kindly, that the frame you picked isn't the one.

UV Studio Brescia is an eyewear concept store with specialty coffee from our own UV Small-Batch Roastery, a Mermaid Gin bar and live acoustic music at the UV Cavern Club on Thursday evenings.
The seven brands are Eye Respect, Monaco by Eye Respect, F1 Eyewear, Gibson, LDNR, Zoobug and Minions. Silvia and Jonathan own and design two of them, Eye Respect and LDNR. Monaco by Eye Respect is a collaboration. You can read the story behind Eye Respect here.
Beyond the studio, UV distributes Mermaid Gin in Italy and turns up at the events the founders love, including Formula 1 races, the Mille Miglia and the Isle of Wight Festival.
Why independent
Most eyewear comes from a handful of big groups. Silvia and Jonathan wanted the opposite: frames made by hand, by brands with a point of view, sold by people who actually wear them. Eye Respect and Monaco by Eye Respect are handmade in Monaco from Mazzucchelli acetate. F1 Optical is handmade in England. Every brand has its own story, and you won't find the same frame in every shop window.
